Amazing family recipe that needed to be shared with the world.

I mentioned this recipe in my last blog post, Fall Favorites of 2021, and it still remains to be my favorite. It's the one recipe that has been passed down through the generations and will continue to be passed down. I hope you find this dessert as amazing as I do.

This cake NEVER goes to waste!

Applesauce Chocolate Chip Cake

Section 1: Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 2 1/2 cups applesauce

  • ¾ cup margarine

  • 3 cup flour

  • 4 tsp. baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Glaze mixture of milk and powdered sugar

Section 2: Directions

Directions should always be short and to the point.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease 9x13in. baking pan.

  2. In a medium-large saucepan, melt the applesauce, sugar, and margarine. Be sure to stir every few minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and be sure to cool completely.

  4. In a separate medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix throughly.

  5. Combine dry mixture to applesauce mixture.

  6. Fold in package of chocolate chips.

  7. Bake for 35-40 minuets. When toothpick comes out clean, it is ready. Remember this cake tends to be very moist so sometimes it may not seem done even though it actually is.

  8. While cake cools, make a mixture of milk and powdered sugar for a glaze and pour across the top.

  9. Your cake is ready! Serve right after or cover and store for up to 1 week.
